There exist multiple separate works under this title, with scholars identifying as many as five distinct compositions, all originating long after Biblical times. The edition in consideration is an English translation of a Hebrew manuscript published in 1613. Originally titled Sepir Ha Yasher in Hebrew, which translates to the 'Book of the Upright' or 'the Upright or Correct Record'. It is important to note that 'Jasher' was a misinterpretation of 'Yasher', as the Hebrew term 'ha' never precedes proper names.

Spanning from the creation of the world to the death of Moses, this text delves into familiar narratives present in the canonical Mosaic books of the Bible, albeit with some subtle deviations.
